Ballen Marina takes part in the Free Harbour scheme (Frihavnsordningen).
About the Free Harbour scheme
A number of harbours, clubs, guilds and other associations across Denmark and along the German, Swedish and Norwegian coasts are part of the Free Harbour scheme. This lets visiting sailors stay in each other's harbours for up to three days free of charge. In Denmark, available berths are marked with red/green signs.
What does it cost?
Vessels in the scheme must display the FH sticker, which is renewed every year. The sticker is placed where it is easily visible to the harbour authority. On request, a receipt for paid berth rent in the home harbour must be shown.
When can the scheme be used?
The FH scheme may only be used for holiday or touring sailing and must not be used as a "parking scheme". If the boat stays beyond 24 hours, the local harbour authority must be notified, and it decides whether a harbour fee is payable. On a change of ownership, the FH sticker is removed at handover.
