Ballen Marina lies in rural surroundings in Svendborg Municipality, opposite the island of Skarø at the western entrance to the Svendborgsund. It is a private harbour owned and run by Ballen Havneforening. It has 129 berths and was formerly a fishing hamlet. The harbour can be entered day and night at moderate speed.
Navigation information
- Largest vessels that can enter: approx. 15 m length and 4 m beam.
- The difference between mean high and low water is 0.4 m. Strong easterly wind can raise the water about 1 m; strong westerly wind can lower it about 1 m.
- Fixed red light at the head of the eastern mole. The mole heads are lit.
- Anchorages east and west of the harbour. Note the cable to Skarø, marked with buoys.
Surroundings
100 metres east of the harbour lies the idyllic Syltemade stream, with a path of about 3 km along it through beautiful, hilly terrain. East of the harbour there is a bathing beach with a bathing jetty and sandy bottom.
